Description

  • Provide consulting services to customers on Embedded Linux topics including bootloaders, the Linux kernel, and Linux distributions.
  • Develop, integrate, debug, and test software for a variety of products and customers.
  • Contribute publicly to open source projects and help maintain technical leadership in the community.
  • Analyze customer problems and design solutions using open source technologies and Collabora expertise.
  • Define and scope client projects in collaboration with the delivery team.
  • Build working knowledge of customer products, applications, business strengths, and target markets as needed.
  • Advise clients on Linux core system technologies and represent the company at conferences and trade shows.
  • Balance customer needs with time constraints, available technologies, resources, and open source best practices.

Requirements

  • Broad Linux experience, including uBoot, the Linux kernel and BSPs, and embedded Linux distributions such as Yocto or Debian.
  • Knowledge of open source development methodologies and relevant open source communities.
  • Knowledge of ARM processor-based embedded systems.
  • Experience with system image creation tools such as debos and wic, and OTA technologies.
  • Experience with Debian system creation is a strong plus.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a Linux-based environment.
  • Experience with software development for embedded Linux systems.
  • Experience with modern CI tooling such as GitHub and GitLab.
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fully distributed online environment.
  • Familiarity with one or more of Collabora's market verticals is preferred.
  • Experience with the Rust programming language is preferred.
  • Experience setting up secure or trusted boot chains is preferred.
  • Experience creating A/B boot systems or other atomic upgrade schemes is preferred.
  • Experience with base hardware bringup of new ARM devices is preferred.
