Description

Own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Payment Rails network of partner integrations and routing.
Build and scale distributed systems that process high-volume, high-reliability payment traffic.
Design for fault isolation, graceful degradation, strong observability, and clear service-level objectives for critical services.
Drive an AI-first approach to engineering workflows by identifying opportunities to improve development speed, code quality, and operational efficiency.
Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to turn ambiguous business needs into well-scoped technical solutions.
Lead high-stakes scaling initiatives and proactively address bottlenecks in money movement systems.
Establish paved roads, design patterns, and best practices that raise engineering quality across teams.
Mentor and train team members on design techniques and coding standards.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in software engineering.
Experience building payment systems, financial infrastructure, or high-volume transactional systems.
Experience designing and building fault-tolerant, highly reliable distributed systems at scale.
Demonstrated track record of architecting systems that handle billions of dollars in transaction volume.
Experience turning fragmented services and bespoke integrations into coherent, reusable platforms.
Experience owning production reliability, leading high-severity incident response, and driving systemic improvements from postmortems.
History of influencing across teams without direct authority and driving consensus on high-impact technical decisions.
Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean in daily workflows.
Nice to have: experience with payment processors, banking integrations, or payment gateways such as Stripe, Plaid, SWIFT, ACH, SEPA, or card networks.
Nice to have: background in crypto or blockchain technologies, including stablecoin transfers, on-chain settlements, or cross-chain payment flows.
Nice to have: experience working in highly regulated industries, especially fintech or financial services.

Benefits

Target annual base salary of $218,025 to $256,500 USD, depending on work location.
Total compensation may include equity and bonus eligibility.

Remote-first flexibility for many roles, with required in-person participation throughout the year.
Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually and are fully supported.
