Description

  • Partner with Engineering and Finance leadership to build tooling that shows the financial impact of architectural decisions in real time.
  • Build and maintain core features of the internal FinOps Hub.
  • Transform raw cloud and vendor data into actionable insights for engineering teams.
  • Own integrations with vendor billing APIs and ensure incoming cost data flows accurately into allocation models.
  • Drive a cost-awareness culture across engineering and product through metrics, visibility, and education.
  • Manage cost allocation and unit economics across Coinbase projects so teams can understand their all-in costs.
  • Monitor resource utilization and respond quickly to cost regressions caused by spikes or architectural changes.
  • Provide leadership with visibility into the financial impact of engineering decisions and support accountability for infrastructure efficiency.
  • Work with vendors to optimize contracts and help teams right-size resources and reduce waste.

Requirements

  • Deep, hands-on understanding of cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, including how cloud primitives are provisioned, metered, and billed.
  • Strong backend software engineering proficiency in Go, Python, or Ruby.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality, production-ready code.
  • Analytical and debugging skills to trace cost anomalies back to specific infrastructure changes.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills to explain technical cost drivers to engineering peers and product managers.
  • Prior experience in FinOps, cloud economics, or building tools for infrastructure optimization is preferred.
  • Experience building internal developer tools, dashboards, or portals that influence engineering behavior is preferred.
  • Professional certifications related to cloud architecture or cost management, such as FinOps Certified Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are a plus.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on work location.
  • Total compensation may include equity.
  • Bonus eligibility is included in total compensation.

  • Remote-first in some roles, with in-person participation required throughout the year for this position.
  • Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually and are fully supported.
