Description

  • Design, build, and operate foundational data services including storage, orchestration, batch processing, streaming, query federation, caching, and specialized databases.
  • Build and maintain data integration and processing SDKs used by internal services and product teams across Coinbase.
  • Design and build self-service applications that help users manage and troubleshoot their own data pipelines.
  • Develop services for end-to-end data security and data observability, including access controls, data quality tracking, dataset cataloging, lineage, and usage auditing.
  • Convert functional requests from analysts, ML, security, and compliance teams into reusable and scalable data patterns.
  • Assemble data microservices into data platforms for critical business verticals and user cohorts.
  • Contribute to the full spectrum of data platform systems, from foundational processing and storage to internal tools and applications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend development skills in Python, Go, or Java.
  • General experience working with data systems or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with scale-out, caching, key/value, and columnar design patterns.
  • Experience using SQL, Python, Airflow, and BI tools to analyze data for operational insights.
  • Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows with human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, or engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on work location.
  • Total compensation may include equity and bonus eligibility.

  • Remote-first flexibility with required in-person participation throughout the year.
