Description

  • Run CBPL’s entity-level risk framework in line with policy, methodology, and risk appetite across financial, operational, technology, outsourcing, conduct, and regulatory risks.
  • Lead and challenge RCSAs, incident and issue management, KRIs/KCIs, and risk-appetite monitoring for CBPL, including MiFID-related change.
  • Provide second-line risk challenge on products, change initiatives, and governance, and prepare risk reporting for the Risk Committee, Board, and working groups.
  • Oversee CBPL outsourcing and intra-group risk, including GSAs/SLAs, exit plans, third-party concentration, resilience, and important business services.
  • Support CBPL ICARA, prudential planning, and regulatory engagement with country-level risk input, scenarios, and remediation tracking.
  • Help design, enhance, and embed Coinbase’s global Operational Risk Management framework, including RCSA, incident and loss data, key controls, KRIs, scenario analysis, and business resiliency.
  • Own or co-own global ORM program areas such as incident management, non-financial risk assessment, resilience, third-party risk, or loss analytics.
  • Partner with global product and operations teams to review new products and changes for operational risk impacts, with focus on the UK and CBPL footprint.
  • Enhance operational-risk MI and dashboards for senior management and Board-level forums.
  • Champion a strong risk culture across CBPL and Global ORM, coach first-line and functional leaders, and role-model clear communication, ownership, and bias for action.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of risk-management experience in UK-regulated financial services, with strong exposure to operational and enterprise risk.
  • Deep understanding of risk governance, the three lines of defence, RCSA, incidents/issues, KRIs/KCIs, risk appetite, and stress testing.
  • Practical experience with UK regulation such as SYSC, MiFIDPRU/IFPR, operational resilience, outsourcing, conduct, and Consumer Duty.
  • Prior experience working in or closely with second-line-of-defence functions, engaging Boards, senior management, regulators, and internal audit.
  • Ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini, and Glean in daily workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement risk processes and procedures at both entity and group level.
  • Strong organisation, project, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and tight deadlines.
  • Proven track record of building effective relationships across global, matrixed organisations.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, technology-led environment with changing priorities.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience with RSA Archer or similar GRC platforms and building risk MI and dashboards.
  • Preferred: prior exposure to crypto, digital assets, or other innovative financial-technology businesses.
  • Preferred: relevant qualifications in risk management, operational risk, MiFID/IFPR, or internal audit such as IRM, FRM, PRM, CFA, or equivalent.

  • Annual base salary range of £95,490 to £106,100 GBP.
