Description

  • Own story-level work from decomposition and design through implementation, deployment, release, and support.
  • Build full-stack features using Java or Groovy, React, TypeScript, MongoDB, and Kafka.
  • Write tests, estimate effort, confirm priorities, and deliver reliable software.
  • Create design notes that explain technical tradeoffs for non-trivial work.
  • Debug production issues using logs, metrics, and traces, then implement fixes.
  • Improve developer experience, code quality, platform capabilities, and operational reliability.
  • Conduct constructive, high-quality code reviews.
  • Coordinate with product managers, QA, and adjacent engineers to resolve dependencies and blockers.
  • Support onboarding and mentor interns or new team members on scoped tasks.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing ownership.
  • Production backend development experience with Java or Groovy.
  • Experience building web applications with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases, including schema design and queries.
  • Ability to independently decompose, implement, test, and ship story-sized work.
  • Working knowledge of event-driven systems or messaging such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Proficiency with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to estimate work accurately and communicate status, risks, and blockers proactively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred: healthcare or life sciences experience, Cypress/Playwright/JUnit/Jest, AWS, production support, technical specifications, feature flags, or progressive rollouts.

  • Annual salary range of $107,000–$130,000, with bonus eligibility.
