Description

  • Draft and refine adverse determination reasons and related patient communications in plain language.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and policy writers to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Translate complex medical and policy information into clear, patient-centered language.
  • Ensure communications comply with CMS, NCQA, URAC, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, readability, and user experience across documents.
  • Develop templates, style guides, and best practices for patient-facing content.
  • Partner with informatics, clinical content, and design teams to capture, structure, and automate clinical knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field; nursing or clinical practice background strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical writing, patient communications, or health literacy.
  • Experience with clinical policy, utilization management, or a payer environment.
  • Knowledge of health literacy principles and plain language standards.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with patient-friendly readability.
  • Experience collaborating with clinicians, policy teams, and compliance/legal stakeholders.
  • Background in nursing or clinical practice strongly preferred.
