Description

  • Serve as the primary legal partner for the Payment Integrity and Special Investigations Unit.
  • Manage disputes with healthcare providers and vendors tied to Clover’s Medicare Advantage business.
  • Handle actual and threatened litigation, and bring affirmative litigation when appropriate to protect the company’s interests.
  • Partner with the business to proactively manage litigation and regulatory risk across key operational areas.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice on CMS regulations, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the False Claims Act.
  • Collaborate with the Counterpart Assistant product team on feature development.
  • Identify areas of litigation and regulatory risk and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with business leaders to anticipate legal issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Create processes with cross-functional business partners to support risk management.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • At least 4 years of litigation, investigations, and/or product counseling experience at a large law firm.
  • Experience working with health insurance clients, especially in the managed care space.
  • Familiarity with CMS regulations, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and the False Claims Act.
  • Experience helping clients develop strategies to mitigate litigation and regulatory risk.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with teams and management.
  • Detail-oriented, dynamic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to analyze and present information clearly, including responding to questions from team members and management.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and solving problems creatively.
