Description

  • Analyze SBA loan applications for small and mid-sized businesses and professional practices under current SBA guidelines.
  • Underwrite loans from $200,000 to $5,000,000 for commercial real estate, equipment, acquisitions, expansions, and debt refinancing.
  • Review financial statements and third-party reports, assess creditworthiness, and perform conventional credit analysis.
  • Structure transactions and provide well-supported lending recommendations.
  • Prepare detailed credit approval requests covering financial performance, business history, collateral, and management.
  • Coordinate communication among credit administration, sales teams, and borrowers.
  • Identify credit weaknesses and policy exceptions, assign accurate risk ratings, and mitigate lending risk.
  • Follow bank policies, SBA requirements, and BSA, AML, CIP, OFAC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Compliance on suspicious-activity investigations and fraud prevention.
  • Support the bank’s sustainability, social justice, and values-driven mission.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of direct SBA underwriting experience with strong knowledge of SBA SOPs and products.
  • Experience with financial analysis, report interpretation, and loan structuring.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent education; formal credit training preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial products, banking regulations, applicable laws, and business banking services.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports and legal documents and evaluate diverse industries and markets.
  • Strong analytical, data-driven decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Clear, professional communication and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Ability to learn and use technology to improve processes and work quality.
  • U.S.-based remote availability during Eastern Standard Hours, with occasional travel.
