Description

  • Design, build, and maintain backend features in the Core Platform using PHP 8.4, Laminas Mezzio, Doctrine, and MySQL.
  • Expose platform functionality through well-designed REST APIs.
  • Use AI coding agents for implementation, testing, refactoring, code navigation, incident triage, and log analysis.
  • Improve documentation, conventions, tests, tooling, MCP servers, and agent instructions to increase team productivity.
  • Review and own the correctness, security, and design quality of all merged code.
  • Launch and operate features with dashboards and alerts, monitoring the operational health of the domain.
  • Modernize the platform through incremental refactoring and removal of legacy components.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs and escalations while collaborating with QA on shift-left test automation.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, PHP Guild activities, and knowledge sharing across remote international squads.

Requirements

  • Daily proficiency with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor, including effective prompting and critical review of generated code.
  • Strong proficiency in modern PHP 8.x with object-oriented programming and SOLID design principles.
  • Ability to independently deliver production software using a mainstream PHP framework and Doctrine or another ORM.
  • Experience optimizing MySQL queries.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Experience with automated testing in PHPUnit and a test-driven development mindset.
  • Confidence navigating and incrementally refactoring large legacy codebases, including with AI assistance.
  • Ability to own features from ticket through production with a strong quality and reliability mindset.
  • Clear written communication and autonomy in a remote-first agile team.
