Description

  • Develop and maintain complex database logic, including scripts, stored procedures, functions, and triggers using SQL and SQL Procedural Language.
  • Optimize DB2 performance by analyzing access paths and join methods with Explain tools such as db2exfmt and Visual Explain.
  • Run and automate maintenance routines such as RUNSTATS and REORG to keep statistics current and storage efficient.
  • Design and modify tables, indexes, views, and tablespaces, including bufferpools and page sizes, to support logical and physical data model integrity and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve production performance issues such as locks, deadlocks, timeouts, and isolation-level conflicts.
  • Propose structural or code-level improvements to maximize concurrency and reduce response time and resource consumption.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the database using DB2 utilities such as db2pd, db2top, and db2advis.
  • Support data movement and large-volume processing through EXPORT, IMPORT, LOAD, and INGEST utilities.
  • Work with data pipeline contexts such as ETL/ELT to help optimize the flow of large data volumes.

Requirements

  • Experience with DB2, specifically the LUW version.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge, including procedural development inside the database.
  • Strong expertise in database performance engineering, including indexes, table partitioning, and data compression.
  • Hands-on experience with ERwin Data Modeler.
  • Familiarity with DB2 utilities for monitoring and diagnosis, such as db2pd, db2top, and db2advis.
  • Understanding of how databases integrate with ETL/ELT pipelines and how to optimize large data flows.
  • Experience using DB2 mass data movement utilities, including EXPORT, IMPORT, LOAD, and INGEST.
  • IBM DB2 Administrator or Database Specialist certification is a plus.
  • Experience with data integration tools such as InfoSphere DataStage or IBM MQ is a plus.
  • Experience with Shell Scripting (Bash) for server task automation is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of infrastructure components such as storage, CPU, and RAM that affect DB2 behavior is a plus.
