Description

  • Build and evolve internal AI platforms including Archimedes, Bosun, and easyRAG.
  • Design reusable APIs, SDKs, templates, and shared services for AI-powered tools.
  • Prototype and productionize new AI capabilities and convert successful patterns into platform features.
  • Define golden-path patterns for LLM usage while balancing velocity, safety, reliability, and cost.
  • Develop standardized, observable, and governed systems for AI assistants and workflows.
  • Establish evaluation, observability, and cost-management practices covering quality, latency, safety, and spend.
  • Partner with Security, Risk, Legal, Platform Engineering, and product teams to implement responsible AI guardrails.
  • Drive consistency in how AI systems are built, deployed, and operated across Chime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and partner teams to integrate AI into internal tools and employee experiences.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents outside regular hours when necessary.

Requirements

  • Significant experience building distributed systems, platform services, or internal developer tools.
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs or ML services and shipping production-quality features.
  • Strong coding skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience working across services, CLIs, and internal tooling.
  • A platform mindset focused on reusable primitives, contracts, and paved roads.
  • Familiarity with AI evaluation, prompt and version management, observability, cost control, safety, and data privacy.
  • Experience partnering with Security, Risk, Product, Operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to varied audiences.
  • Willingness to participate in an engineering on-call rotation.

  • Base salary of $164,000–$227,000, plus bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
