Description

  • Own the technical direction for customer-facing registries, APIs, and artifact-serving systems.
  • Design, build, and operate high-availability backend services in Go.
  • Improve scalability, reliability, observability, and load testing for production systems.
  • Drive architectural decisions for repository service boundaries and operating patterns.
  • Partner with engineers across Chainguard to expand support for additional artifact types.
  • Mentor engineers and raise the quality of design and code review.
  • Help shape team practices and deliver meaningful technical outcomes in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building and operating production backend or infrastructure systems.
  • Strong Go experience, or deep backend systems experience with the ability to ramp quickly in Go.
  • Experience with customer-facing infrastructure such as package registries, artifact repositories, APIs, developer platforms, or other high-scale serving systems.
  • Experience deploying and managing production services with strong judgment around reliability, observability, performance, and operational tradeoffs.
  • Comfort working across application and infrastructure layers, including cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong systems instincts and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they become bottlenecks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in a remote environment.
  • Experience with package registries or adjacent systems such as Docker registries, GitLab package services, Artifactory, or Nexus (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with software supply chain security concepts such as provenance, SBOMs, and trusted artifact distribution (nice to have).
  • Open source experience or experience expanding multi-artifact repository platforms across libraries, containers, or OS packages (nice to have).
