Description

  • Engineer enhancements in EpiTrax so case records can link to multiple outbreaks of the same disease while preserving data integrity.
  • Design and code automated features that connect cases and contacts to specific outbreaks for real-time surveillance accuracy.
  • Develop and deploy task-generation modules that assign and track follow-up actions for public health investigators.
  • Implement changes that reduce duplicate data entry and improve data visibility across the surveillance system.
  • Refine and expand data export modules to support interoperability with external analysis and visualization tools.
  • Support critical system updates for outbreak tracking and public health response during high-volume events.
  • Operationalize new system features to strengthen real-time surveillance capabilities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
  • Proficiency in Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) development within Wildfly and Java 17 environments.
  • Strong understanding of MVC design patterns, including PrimeFaces, JSF Managed Beans, and JPA.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL databases.
  • Expertise in XML processing using JAXP.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • This role is currently designated as a hybrid position, though it is being recruited as remote in the posting.
  • Position end date is 12/31/26.
