Description

  • Own key platform features and architectural improvements from design through delivery.
  • Define and evolve safe, scalable, reusable technical architecture and engineering standards.
  • Influence technical direction through design reviews, RFCs, proof-of-concepts, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Address complex platform challenges, including third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization.
  • Partner with QA, Product, Security, Domain SMEs, and DevOps to improve quality, observability, reliability, and deployment practices.
  • Identify systemic risks and eliminate root causes affecting reliability, performance, or cost.
  • Provide senior production support, lead root-cause analysis, and drive preventative improvements.
  • Mentor senior and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
  • Champion responsible AI-assisted development, define SDLC guardrails, evaluate new tools, and measure their impact across teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience with core Java and extensive server-side Java expertise.
  • Experience with both monolithic applications and microservices.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
  • Experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure used by multiple teams.
  • Experience delivering AWS cloud-native systems, including scalability, reliability, security, and cost management.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience making important architectural decisions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, initiative, and ability to influence technical direction across teams.
  • Experience working in agile teams with developers, testers, and product owners.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and infrastructure tools including S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, EKS, CloudFormation, and Terraform; SQL Server, New Relic, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with Azure or Google Cloud, open-source contributions, or a strong GitHub portfolio is preferred.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Devin or Claude Code is relevant to the role.
