Description

  • Directly manage a pod of engineers responsible for the Physical Access product, including Mobile Key and lock-vendor integrations.
  • Set the standard for code quality and shipping velocity as a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Own the architecture and ongoing evolution of mobile-key issuance, lock-vendor integrations, and encoder/BLE unlock paths.
  • Improve unlock reliability, latency, and vendor coverage by understanding how hotels and guests use the product.
  • Partner with Product Managers to shape roadmap and prioritization for the Physical Access area.
  • Mentor engineers, break down work, create execution plans, and assign tasks across the team.
  • Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and team ceremonies to support pod health.
  • Run pod processes autonomously and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Participate in hiring and interviewing for the Physical Access team and broader engineering organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of strong engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing successful engineering teams.
  • Solid knowledge of backend application development.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with third-party hardware or vendor APIs, such as IoT, access control, payments, telephony, or similar.
  • Proven ability to ship high-quality products that operate reliably at scale.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and diligent work style.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build consensus across a diverse team.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and strong ownership/accountability.
  • Bonus: experience with mobile (iOS/Android), BLE/NFC, or hardware/lock-vendor integrations.
