Description

  • Develop and maintain websites, landing pages, and web applications using WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  • Manage assigned web properties, including maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, deployments, and post-launch support.
  • Build and modify WordPress themes, templates, reusable components, blocks, plugins, and custom functionality.
  • Translate designs and requirements into responsive, accessible experiences meeting WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Support website launches, redesigns, migrations, integrations, and the CALSTART.org rebrand and rebuild.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with REST APIs, forms, analytics platforms, CRM systems, Salesforce, and third-party services.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, marketing, IT, program teams, and external stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Monitor and improve website performance, security, accessibility, uptime, scalability, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Maintain technical documentation and contribute to development standards, testing practices, deployment procedures, and team workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional web development experience, including WordPress development and maintenance.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, modern JavaScript, and WordPress customization.
  • Working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, REST APIs, third-party web services, and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience with web accessibility standards, preferably WCAG 2.1 or newer, plus security, privacy, performance, compatibility, and testing practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot front-end, back-end, CMS, database, integration, and hosting issues independently.
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, accountability, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hosting platforms such as WP Engine, Cloudflare, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred.
  • Experience with tools such as Advanced Custom Fields, Gutenberg, CI/CD, Docker, Salesforce, analytics platforms, React, Vue, or automated testing tools preferred.
  • Experience with migrations, redesigns, multisite portfolios, data visualizations, GIS tools, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
