Description

  • Lead technical direction and execution for the development, construction, commissioning, and operation of renewable energy assets.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering contact for hyperscale and colocation data center customers and C&I clients from early development through commercial operation.
  • Establish and enforce electrical design standards and provide quality oversight across cross-functional project teams.
  • Collaborate with customers, utilities, AHJs, and third-party consultants on the design and engineering of complex projects.
  • Deliver design, modeling, and technical support from initial customer solution concepts through project implementation and operation.
  • Review and optimize electrical deliverables, including single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, load flow studies, short circuit analyses, equipment specifications, and interconnection packages.
  • Develop preliminary single-line diagrams and define equipment sizing and MV/HV interconnection topologies.
  • Lead interconnection strategy across multiple ISOs/RTOs, including application preparation, impact study review, facilities study negotiation, and utility coordination.
  • Engage with utility technical staff, transmission planners, and grid operators to resolve interconnection and protection issues.
  • Provide technical support to the operations and maintenance team.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of relevant power generation experience with a strong focus on MV/HV distribution systems and utility-scale or distributed renewable projects.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in the renewables industry with direct ownership of electrical engineering scope on complex projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure, codes, and standards, including NEC/NFPA, IEEE interconnection standards, and applicable grid codes.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), with or without paired PV projects.
  • Knowledge of interconnection application requirements in multiple ISOs/RTOs such as MISO and PJM.
  • Proficiency with electrical design and modeling tools, including protection coordination, load flow, and short-circuit analysis software.
  • Proven experience with utility interconnection processes, including applications, impact studies, facilities studies, and technical negotiations.
  • Ability to work autonomously on deadline-driven projects, manage multiple projects and vendors, and travel to client sites as needed.
  • Preferred qualifications include a PE license, field commissioning experience for distributed generation equipment, SCADA protections and controls experience, distributed generation or isochronous grid design experience, direct data center client experience, and a graduate degree in electrical engineering or power systems.
