Description

  • Own hardware design from concept generation through launch, including CAD, hand calculations, and prototypes.
  • Use first principles to guide design decisions and simplify hardware designs where possible.
  • Communicate architecture tradeoffs related to design and packaging considerations.
  • Lead subsystem design reviews and present technical status, timelines, and progress to the team.
  • Serve as the Responsible Engineer for a subsystem by running analysis, visiting vendors, and defining hardware test plans.
  • Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful designs into flight hardware and low-rate production.
  • Travel to test sites and vendors as needed.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including test plans, reports, procedures, drawings, specifications, and statements of work.

Requirements

  • Active U.S. Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
  • Prior experience supporting DoD or IC customers.
  • BS or higher degree in engineering or a hard science.
  • Experience with immersive hands-on technical projects in collegiate or professional settings.
  • CAD skills on any platform and the ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
  • Hands-on fabrication and assembly experience using hand tools, mill, lathe, or similar equipment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including heat transfer, statics, solid mechanics, and materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to work autonomously without supervision.
  • Very organized and able to define scope and requirements for ill-defined problems.
  • Passion for defending the United States and its allies.
  • 2+ years of professional mechanical design experience with space hardware or equivalent complexity, preferred.
  • Experience with NX/Teamcenter, preferred.
  • Ability to integrate electronic components such as PCBAs, motors, and sensors into mechanical designs, preferred.
  • Experience integrating optical or RF systems into designs, preferred.
  • Experience writing code in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for analytical models, data acquisition, or automation, preferred.
  • Structural or thermal testing experience, including sensor selection, data acquisition, and data post-processing, preferred.
