Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain calendar platform services that product teams depend on.
  • Build and scale a unified calendar data API and underlying data infrastructure.
  • Develop synchronization services that preserve data integrity across internal systems and external providers.
  • Create and improve search infrastructure to surface relevant calendar data for users.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions for calendar platform services.
  • Collaborate with product engineering, Data Platform, and Infrastructure teams to translate needs into robust solutions.
  • Own significant projects from concept through production delivery.
  • Ensure reliability and performance through monitoring, testing, and incident response.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for business-critical systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement based on operational learnings.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience at a SaaS or technology company with a strong backend and distributed systems focus.
  • Deep experience with service-oriented architecture, microservice patterns, and resilient, scalable systems.
  • Proven experience building and operating high-traffic, high-availability production platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in building internal tools, frameworks, and SDKs used by other engineers.
  • Experience with API design and data synchronization across multiple external providers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex system issues.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the United States, as Calendly does not provide immigration sponsorship.
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby/Rails, or NodeJS/TypeScript is preferred.
  • Experience decomposing monolithic applications into microservices is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Pub/Sub is preferred.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch or similar search infrastructure is preferred.
  • Background in platform engineering roles is preferred.
