Description

  • Own the full website experience, including information architecture, layout, design, frontend implementation, performance, accessibility, and ongoing quality.
  • Design and build a reusable component system that supports new pages, products, and content types while staying on brand.
  • Lead the direction of the website stack, including framework, styling, build tooling, CI, hosting, analytics, and experimentation.
  • Improve CMS integration and publishing workflows with preview environments, validations, reusable modules, and governance guardrails.
  • Translate Buildkite’s identity into a living web system through typography, motion, interaction patterns, theming, and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate across product, sales, support, and other functions to keep the web experience cohesive and compelling.
  • Establish a sustainable operating model with monitoring, performance budgets, accessibility checks, search hygiene, documentation, and reporting.
  • Represent Buildkite’s brand through the web and define what high-quality modern web execution looks like for the company.

Requirements

  • Experience extending brand systems across a modern web presence.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar.
  • Strong frontend engineering background with frameworks such as Astro, Next, Tailwind, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with DevTools and the DevOps ecosystem, with an understanding of what credibility looks like for technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems independently or collaboratively.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High empathy and strong async collaboration instincts in a remote-first environment.
  • Experience with AWS S3, CDNs, Brotli, or modern web delivery infrastructure is a plus.
  • Familiarity with experimentation, analytics, and web performance tooling is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of CI concepts and modern developer workflows is a plus.
