Description

  • Ship production-grade reference implementations that demonstrate best practices with Buildkite.
  • Build and maintain tools and plugins that solve real customer problems and strengthen the ecosystem.
  • Produce versioned, documented, tested, and well-maintained public technical artifacts.
  • Represent Buildkite’s technical point of view on CI, developer workflows, reliability, craft, and the future of software delivery.
  • Create community moments and content such as sandboxes, walkthroughs, live demos, event appearances, and high-signal posts.
  • Engage in technical conversations, answer questions with precision, and triage edge cases with customers and the community.
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Support, and Brand teams to identify issues, route feedback, and drive action.
  • Turn customer work into credible technical stories and co-create narratives with customers and champions.
  • Identify and nurture community champions, power users, maintainers, and future speakers.
  • Speak, demo, teach, and build relationships across the CI/CD ecosystem through talks, workshops, meetups, livestreams, and events.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background with CI fluency and experience shipping and operating production systems.
  • Deep debugging and systems thinking skills for analyzing complex, multi-factor failures.
  • Comfort being a visible, public-facing technical voice and being known in the community.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with precision and empathy.
  • High-agency collaboration skills and the ability to own outcomes cross-functionally.
  • Comfort working asynchronously in a high-trust, end-to-end ownership environment.
  • Experience building or maintaining CI platforms, developer tooling, plugins, or infrastructure at scale is a plus.
  • Public technical proof such as OSS contributions, talks, deep technical writing, credible demos, or community credibility is a plus.
  • Experience shaping dev-facing narratives and turning messy reality into technically honest storytelling is a plus.
  • Experience organizing meetups, workshops, office hours, or community programs is a plus.
