Description

  • Own technical decisions for the team by making decisions directly or reviewing and approving team proposals.
  • Drive team execution and project delivery to maximize outcomes in a dynamic, agile environment.
  • Provide coaching and increasingly challenging assignments to support team member growth.
  • Create and maintain a psychologically safe environment across the company, beyond the local team.
  • Optimize collaboration and operations by implementing engineering processes or tools.
  • Assess team members' performance with executives and other managers and determine rewards such as annual bonuses.
  • Set team priorities or project direction based on customer feedback and/or marketing data.
  • Support the engineering organization by sharing expertise through public writing or speaking when needed.

Requirements

  • Experience managing an engineering team of more than five members.
  • Fluency in coding with C#, C++, Java, or Rust.
  • Business-level English.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey ideas to others.
  • Passion for creating a psychologically safe environment.
  • Experience optimizing collaboration and operations through engineering processes or tools (required among the listed qualifications).
  • Experience assessing team performance with executives and other managers and determining rewards such as annual bonuses (preferred among the listed qualifications).
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members effectively (required among the listed qualifications).
  • Experience setting team priorities or project direction based on customer feedback and/or marketing data (preferred among the listed qualifications).
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to understand both the customer's and engineer's point of view preferred.
  • Fluency in Japanese preferred.
