Description

  • Build and deploy internal AI-powered applications and automation tools across platforms such as GCP, AWS, Azure, and AI APIs.
  • Design and build external-facing applications, including chatbots, that support client public health programs and government operations.
  • Develop tools that collect, aggregate, and analyze data from existing sources to replace manual processes.
  • Design and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for context-aware internal tools.
  • Experiment with and integrate large language models, AI agents, and emerging frameworks to solve operational and public health challenges.
  • Build lightweight internal-facing apps and dashboards using AppScript or similar tools.
  • Translate client and end-user needs into concrete technical requirements and measurable AI solutions.
  • Communicate technical workflows and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
  • Research emerging AI models and platforms to select the right tools for each use case.
  • Implement testing, quality assurance, monitoring, documentation, and best practices for AI systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and at least 1 year of relevant experience; recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • 1+ years of internship-level, undergraduate coursework-related, or professional experience building AI/ML applications or related software engineering work.
  • Strong Python or similar programming skills.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with vector databases, including open-source options and cloud-native vector search offerings.
  • Experience working with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Gemini.
  • Familiarity with Google AppScript or similar automation tools.
  • Experience testing LLM outputs for accuracy, reliability, and performance.
  • Strong communication skills with non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced remote consulting environment.
  • Alignment with BME’s shared values.
  • Preferred: experience with frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
  • Preferred: familiarity with MLOps tools and practices, such as Docker, for production deployment and monitoring.
  • Preferred: experience writing production-level SQL and working with data warehousing solutions such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
  • Preferred: experience with data privacy tools such as Google DLP.
  • Preferred: interest in or experience within public health, healthcare, or government sectors.
  • Preferred: experience on projects connecting public health and technology.
  • Preferred: optimistic, solution-focused mindset and ability to concisely summarize technical ideas.

  • Competitive compensation package with a salary range of $70,720 to $83,200 annually.
