Description

  • Design low-latency service architectures on AWS, including appropriate use of queues, caches, and search projections.
  • Define systems around latency budgets, durable commits, auditability, historical replay, and outage-state semantics.
  • Architect secure multi-tenant environments and make data-isolation tradeoffs across RLS, schema-per-tenant, and database-per-tenant models.
  • Design scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations with external services.
  • Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams.
  • Create architecture documentation, diagrams, and architecture decision records.
  • Present and defend architecture decisions during client engineering and security reviews.
  • Develop capacity models and AWS cost/performance projections.
  • Collaborate with clients and delivery teams to own technical outcomes and commitments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in an architecture-focused role.
  • Substantial experience architecting complex systems end to end.
  • Deep experience with AWS, PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, and Row-Level Security at the data-modeling and architecture level.
  • Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the stack.
  • Expertise designing scalable RESTful APIs and service integrations.
  • Experience with audit/evidence systems, append-only event logs, versioned or bitemporal models, and deterministic historical replay.
  • Experience with failure-mode design, including fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state semantics.
  • Experience with capacity planning and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to overlap US business hours and work effectively with clients.
  • Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, documentation, communication, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with AI coding assistants in daily development.
  • Experience in compliance-sensitive or regulated domains and with event-driven systems, queues, and caching strategies preferred.
