Description

  • Design end-to-end service architectures and scalable RESTful APIs on AWS.
  • Define latency budgets, durability requirements, and fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state behaviors.
  • Architect audit and evidence systems using append-only logs, versioned or bitemporal models, and deterministic replay.
  • Design secure multi-tenant data architectures using PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security.
  • Architect SDK integrations, event-driven systems, queues, caches, and search projections where appropriate.
  • Establish technical standards and conduct architecture and code reviews.
  • Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and architectural decision records.
  • Present and defend architecture decisions during client engineering and security reviews.
  • Build capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Mentor engineering teams and collaborate with clients across multiple consulting projects.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in an architecture-focused role.
  • Substantial experience architecting large, complex systems end to end.
  • Deep experience designing low-latency AWS service architectures and explicit p95/p99 latency budgets.
  • Expertise with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, data modeling, and Row-Level Security.
  • Strong Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript expertise across the stack.
  • Expertise designing and building scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations.
  • Experience with audit systems, historical replay, outage postures, and secure multi-tenant architectures.
  • Experience with capacity modeling, cloud cost/performance analysis, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Experience setting technical standards, reviewing architecture and code, documenting decisions, and mentoring engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree, availability to overlap US business hours, strong problem-solving and technical leadership skills, ownership, attention to detail, and client focus.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants in daily development.
  • Preferred: compliance-sensitive domains, event-driven design, message queues, caching at scale, or an advanced degree.
