Description

  • Build and maintain end-to-end modeling pipelines, including data-quality checks and model diagnostics.
  • Develop models and perform feature engineering for identity resolution, record linkage, forecasting, and survey infrastructure.
  • Evaluate model performance in political-data contexts where standard metrics may not apply cleanly.
  • Translate statistical outputs into actionable guidance for campaigns and internal stakeholders.
  • Scope technical needs and deliver solutions in collaboration with engineers, statisticians, and political analysts.
  • Develop political subject-matter knowledge to inform modeling decisions and identify anomalies.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in machine learning engineering or research science with applied statistics and predictive modeling, or equivalent depth from a PhD program.
  • Strong ability to evaluate model performance, diagnose bugs, and make principled decisions under uncertainty.
  • Confident Python programming skills and the ability to navigate and extend an existing codebase.
  • Strong data-wrangling experience; SQL and relational database experience preferred.
  • Experience with identity resolution, matching or record linkage, survey and voter-file modeling, or scaled Bayesian modeling with NumPyro/JAX preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, statisticians, political experts, and less technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining model outputs and limitations to strategy-focused audiences.
  • Interest in progressive politics and willingness to develop relevant domain knowledge.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.

  • Annual salary of $140,000–$190,000, commensurate with experience.
