Description

  • Design sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions, and robust production environments with engineering teams.
  • Own infrastructure initiative designs and specifications, break work into executable tasks, and lead cross-team delivery.
  • Operate and maintain core Google Cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, databases, and cloud services.
  • Automate infrastructure and tools to reduce manual operational work.
  • Monitor application performance and availability, configure alerts, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Review design proposals and help developers validate application performance, availability, and infrastructure choices.
  • Make and evaluate trade-offs between cloud-managed and self-hosted solutions.
  • Develop or support core platform components such as logging and authorization when needed.
  • Use AI assistants responsibly while maintaining accountability for all shipped changes.
  • Support the onboarding and training of team members.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of production experience operating Kubernetes, including 24x7 production environments.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms; GCP is preferred, with AWS or Azure accepted.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and managed versus self-hosted infrastructure trade-offs.
  • Ability to read, review, validate, and when needed develop Python or Go tooling, including AI-generated code.
  • Experience designing technical specifications, evaluating trade-offs, and reviewing others' designs.
  • Experience leading projects across multiple engineering teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes configuration experience, including security contexts, network policies, RBAC, affinity, disruption budgets, priority classes, and node taints.
  • Experience optimizing Kubernetes resource usage through requests and limits, HPAs, or VPAs.
  • Deep cluster-management knowledge, including node pools, autoscaling, enabled features, and non-disruptive Kubernetes upgrades.
  • Experience with Terraform modules, monitoring and alerting, and DevOps/CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Ansible, Docker, Grafana, and Prometheus; on-call experience is preferred.

  • Base salary range of €48,800–€61,000, with compensation determined by relevant factors.
  • Remote-first work with flexible hours and access to offices in Bratislava, Brno, and Prague.
