Description

  • Provide legal advice on matters affecting BCI’s operations and legal obligations.
  • Draft legal opinions, memoranda, and briefing documents.
  • Review and help formulate internal governance policies and manage external legal impacts.
  • Advise on settlements and dispute-related formalities.
  • Monitor implementation of legal clauses and related commitments.
  • Provide legal input on blockchain and emerging technologies in climate action frameworks.
  • Advise on legal risks involving corporate and charity governance, fundraising, marketing, competition, data protection, trademarks, copyright, defamation, and litigation.
  • Support BCI divisions in minimizing legal risk exposure across employment, contract, privacy, and competition law.
  • Evaluate multiple inputs and impacts when advising on decisions or courses of action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in Law, such as LLB or GDL, for the Legal Assistant level.
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK for Legal Advisor, Senior Legal Advisor, or Principal Legal Advisor levels.
  • Some post-qualification experience for Legal Advisor candidates, with in-house experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience for Senior Legal Advisor candidates, with at least some in-house experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience for Principal Legal Advisor candidates, with at least some in-house experience preferred.
  • Excellent English writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, research, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and the ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive.
  • Preferred knowledge of climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology.
  • Proven experience in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Broad common law legal knowledge in areas such as corporate, contract, employment, or litigation law.
  • Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives and work independently or collaboratively to deliver blockchain-related projects.
