Description

  • Design and prototype generative AI experiences that accelerate autonomy development.
  • Work with the Office of the CTO to refine the vision for Hivemind products and documentation.
  • Lead user experience design for Hivemind Generative AI.
  • Partner with technical leads for Hivemind Commander and Hivemind Design to improve product user experiences.
  • Conduct user research to understand user personas and their needs.
  • Research competing products and synthesize UX findings for engineering and product leadership.
  • Contribute directly to foundational Hivemind products and develop reference implementations in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Help progress low-TRL solutions by working both collaboratively with product teams and independently within Special Projects.
  • Serve as a pipeline for future product and solution engineering leadership across the organization.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience developing large, production-quality software systems.
  • Strong software development and coding fundamentals with high productivity in a mainstream language such as TypeScript, C++, Go, Python, or Rust.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software engineering best practices, including Git, code management tools, documentation, unit testing, and bug tracking.
  • 5+ years of experience with React, Node, TypeScript, or JavaScript development.
  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications in front-end or full-stack roles.
  • Deep understanding of full-stack web development, including DOM, browser APIs, WebSockets, HTTP Streaming, SSE, client and UI state management, SPA routing, URL-based state persistence, and progressive rendering.
  • Experience with multi-modal input handling, including text, files, images, and audio, and client-side LLM context management.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous conditions and drive technical efforts forward.
  • Experience with Linux, Docker, and CI/CD environments.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform such as Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Ability to travel to a Shield AI location 1-3 times per quarter.
  • Experience with geospatial data and WebGL is preferred.
  • Experience with Playwright UI testing is preferred.
  • Experience with Electron or a similar framework is preferred.
  • Experience building debugging or inspection UIs for generative AI systems is preferred.
  • Experience with user experience design for video games is preferred.
  • Experience designing for low-code or no-code systems is preferred.
  • Comfort reading C++, Python, or TypeScript is preferred.
