Description

  • Own technical accounting documentation, including ASC 606 revenue recognition memos and accounting policy papers.
  • Research emerging U.S. GAAP guidance and assess impacts on the company.
  • Design and document internal controls and accounting procedures for scale and public-company readiness.
  • Administer NetSuite, including chart of accounts, revenue recognition, inventory, MRP, reporting, and consultants.
  • Manage the full accounting cycle and lead the monthly close, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements and reporting packages for the Board, investors, and lenders.
  • Lead annual financial statement and 401(k) audits, including audit planning, PBC schedules, footnotes, and auditor inquiries.
  • Coordinate tax filings, R&D tax credit studies, franchise tax, sales and use tax, surveys, and government reporting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team.
  • Support budgeting, reforecasts, customer profitability, pricing, and investor materials.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting from a top-tier university.
  • 3+ years of Big 4 or national public accounting audit experience with technology, life sciences, or medical device clients.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent in a venture-backed or PE-backed company.
  • Experience drafting ASC 606 revenue recognition memos and technical accounting position papers accepted by external auditors.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including multi-element revenue arrangements, inventory costing, leases, and equity.
  • Hands-on experience managing monthly close and preparing complete financial statements and footnotes.
  • NetSuite experience, preferably as an administrator, including Advanced Revenue Management, MRP, or Fixed Assets.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency with AI tools, including Claude models, projects, and artifacts.
  • Preferred experience with hardware plus SaaS or device plus data-service business models, inventory and manufacturing accounting, fundraising diligence, convertible notes, preferred stock, or cap table administration.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, organizational, leadership, integrity, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
