Description

  • Manage an assigned book of business within a territory, including service plans, surveys, resurveys, and high-risk account identification.
  • Schedule and complete onsite workplace visits to evaluate environments, document findings, and deliver recommendations.
  • Monitor policyholder loss activity and develop loss reduction strategies.
  • Apply technical knowledge to help policyholders define and achieve workplace safety and loss control objectives.
  • Provide consultative services and training to support account risk mitigation goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and training resource for internal partners and external customers in occupational safety and loss prevention.
  • Conduct onsite training when appropriate.
  • Maintain professional designations and certifications required for assigned territories.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Communicate workplace findings and risk insights to Underwriting to support accurate risk pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, Engineering, Hard Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing required.
  • One or more of the following certifications required: CSP, CIH, CE, and/or a Masters-level certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience providing loss control or occupational safety services, preferably with a workers’ compensation carrier.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and auditing safety management systems.
  • Experience applying high-level investigation techniques and analyzing incident data to identify patterns and root causes.
  • Experience using formal analytical tools such as Fishbone, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and Fault Tree analysis.
  • Experience developing emergency response plans.
  • Expert knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, compliance requirements, and safety management systems such as OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 45001.
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, machinery, processes, and hazards in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and service industries.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, including collecting, interpreting, and presenting safety data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn proprietary and vendor software quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical, financial, and legal documents and write complex reports.
  • Ability to present technical information clearly to management and public groups.
  • Ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and work in a flexible, dynamic environment.
  • Comfort with complex calculations and logical reasoning for safety and industrial hygiene solutions.
  • Extensive travel by car, plane, or train is required.
