Description

  • Create technical content such as tutorials, sample applications, reference architectures, blog posts, and short-form video that teaches developers how to build with Backblaze B2.
  • Build and publish working code examples and demos for AI/ML workflows, media workflows, and application storage use cases.
  • Contribute to and improve developer documentation, SDKs, and quickstart guides.
  • Translate developer feedback into actionable product input for Engineering and Product teams.
  • Actively engage in developer communities across social media, Discord, Slack, GitHub, and other channels.
  • Represent Backblaze at developer events by speaking, demoing, and networking with attendees.
  • Build relationships in AI/ML, media, cloud infrastructure, and startup developer communities to drive awareness.
  • Support Flamethrower startup cohort members by answering technical questions, sanity-checking architectures, and documenting reusable patterns.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product Marketing, lifecycle marketing, and the Director of Startup & Developer Relations on technical blog strategy and ecosystem storytelling.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of hands-on experience as a software developer or engineer.
  • Meaningful experience with cloud infrastructure and object storage such as S3, B2, GCS, or equivalent.
  • Direct experience building or integrating AI/ML workflows involving storage, such as training data pipelines, model artifact management, or inference infrastructure.
  • Ability to write working code and explain it clearly to other developers.
  • Established presence in developer communities through social following, conference talks, a technical blog, open source contributions, or similar signals.
  • Strong written communication skills for both technical tutorials and concise internal summaries.
  • Self-directed approach with the ability to identify what to build next without a provided content calendar.
  • Familiarity with Backblaze B2 or direct production experience with object storage is a plus.
  • Experience with media/video workflows, SaaS backend architecture, or data-intensive platform development is a plus.
  • Prior formal DevRel experience, such as developer advocate, technical evangelist, or developer educator, is a plus.
  • Active participation in AI/ML developer ecosystems such as Hugging Face, Discord, GitHub, X/Twitter, or YouTube is a plus.
