Description

  • Monitor security events around the clock and identify potential incidents for validation and escalation.
  • Perform initial investigations to distinguish benign activity from legitimate threats.
  • Use SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection tools to triage alerts and support containment actions.
  • Review vulnerability findings and assist with remediation verification to strengthen client environments.
  • Contribute to trend analysis and help refine detection logic to improve alert fidelity.
  • Collaborate with senior analysts and engineering teams to improve SOC workflows and response processes.
  • Document findings clearly in ticketing and reporting systems and follow established playbooks.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, security technologies, and evolving SOC practices.
  • Assist with evidence gathering and report deviations from policies or standards when identified.

Requirements

  • Foundational cybersecurity knowledge, including CIA principles, access control, defense-in-depth, common attack types, tactics, and vulnerabilities.
  • Understanding of networking and operating system fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, the OSI model, and basic system/event logs.
  • Experience using SOC tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, vulnerability scanners, and antivirus platforms.
  • Knowledge of cyber defense and detection concepts, including signature-based and behavioral detection models.
  • Incident response awareness and ability to execute standard triage and escalation actions from playbooks.
  • Familiarity with risk and compliance frameworks such as ISO, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Understanding of encryption, key management, and handling of sensitive data such as PII, PHI, and PCI information.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Professional and ethical conduct with adherence to security policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Required certifications (or ability to obtain): Microsoft SC200 and Sentinel 1 SIREN.
  • Preferred certification: Microsoft AZ500.
  • Additional considerations or equivalents may include A+/Network+, CCT, DFE, CSA, GISF, and ECSS.
