Description

  • Work with clients’ legal, compliance, and investment teams to understand transaction structures.
  • Liaise with clients and counterparties to request key materials and information by email or teleconference.
  • Review ownership and control structures to identify counterparties, including fund structures, SPVs, partnerships, trusts, and other complex entities.
  • Conduct KYC risk analysis focused on money laundering, bribery and corruption, financial crime, and reputational risk.
  • Collaborate with clients’ Legal and Compliance teams to support regulatory and internal policy compliance.
  • Conduct legal and factual research related to transactions and compliance matters.
  • Draft and update know-how materials.
  • Assist with business development and practice management tasks.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in the legal, compliance, or risk management sector as an intern, part-time employee, or full-time employee.
  • Knowledge of legal administration, document drafting, legal compliance, and regulatory compliance.
  • High level of attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Passion for building a career in the legal and compliance sector.
  • Past work experience within a law firm, legal services provider, business intelligence provider, or the legal/compliance department of a financial institution or asset manager is desirable.
  • Experience with KYC tools and screening platforms such as World-Check, Dow Jones, or similar is desirable.
  • Familiarity with private and public investments, including fund structures and offshore jurisdictions such as Cayman and Luxembourg, is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Transactional Compliance is desirable.
  • A degree in law, diploma in paralegal studies, or a related subject area is required.
  • Professional certifications such as ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent are a plus.
