Description

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of cargo claims from filing through final resolution.
  • Investigate reefer claims involving temperature deviations, pulp readings, delays, shelf-life deterioration, and USDA inspections.
  • Negotiate and settle loss, damage, shortage, and contamination claims with shippers, receivers, carriers, and insurers.
  • Coordinate salvage, redistribution, or disposal of perishable freight in compliance with food-safety requirements.
  • Collect and validate temperature logs, bills of lading, inspections, invoices, and other claim documentation.
  • Reconcile claim receivables and payables, secure releases, and execute assignments of rights.
  • Analyze claims trends, carrier performance, and recurring risks for Arrive Fresh leadership.
  • Collaborate with Carrier Sales, Business Delivery, Legal, and Operational Risk on high-risk shipments and disputes.
  • Escalate complex, high-value, or litigated claims with recommendations to the Risk Manager.
  • Monitor cold-chain compliance, carrier vetting, reefer certifications, pre-cooling, and temperature-recording protocols.
  • Coordinate responses to rejected, stranded, or high-risk loads, including temperature reviews, restacks, and carrier holds.
  • Maintain accurate claim records in TMS and claims systems and provide status updates to customers and carriers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of cargo claims management experience, preferably in 3PL, freight brokerage, or cargo insurance environments.
  • Deep knowledge of the Carmack Amendment, PACA guidelines, USDA standards, and FSMA requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Experience handling high-value settlements and complex legal disputes.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict-resolution, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced logistics environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, freight broker TMS platforms, and claims management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage perishable freight claims with urgency and collaborate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
