Description

  • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, data analysis, and stakeholder input to inform design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, process flows, and interactive prototypes for application and system features.
  • Define, design, maintain, and extend design system components, libraries, utilities, patterns, and shared UX templates.
  • Collaborate with SCRUM teams, federal Product Owners, developers, and other stakeholders to refine solutions and address pain points.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and program increment activities.
  • Perform usability testing, accessibility audits, and validation sessions, then iterate designs based on feedback.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
  • Maintain documentation, demos, and the Design System website/Figma toolkit library.
  • Advise teams on best practices for using design system components and enterprise features.
  • Mentor SCRUM teams on UX topics and contribute to continuous improvement in DesignOps processes.

Requirements

  • 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field, or 3 additional years of experience.
  • Proficiency with UX design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and design systems.
  • Strong expertise in user-centered design processes, including research, definition, ideation, prototyping, and validation.
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and designing to Section 508 and WCAG guidelines.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Angular, and Bootstrap.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and federal stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies such as SCRUM and SAFe, plus tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Ability to create and maintain design documentation, research reports, and design system libraries.
  • Experience with federal government contracts, FAR regulations, ATO processes, or mission-critical systems (preferred).
  • Certification in UX/UI design, Agile, or accessibility such as NN/g, CSM, or IAAP CPACC (preferred).
  • Certification, coursework, or workshops in UX accessibility (preferred).
  • Background in content-heavy enterprise systems, advanced prototyping tools, or DesignOps practices (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring teams on UX best practices and contributing to large-scale design systems (preferred).
