Description

  • Work with the Head of Platform and Head of SRE to identify infrastructure improvements and implement plans to address them.
  • Improve the maturity of system components, including high availability, testing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and deployment patterns.
  • Assist with incident response, resolution, post-mortems, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the solution architect and engineering teams on architecture, infrastructure, and ways of working.
  • Participate in technical talks and team learning to spread knowledge across the organization.
  • Create and maintain playbooks, runbooks, and systems documentation to support knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in DevOps engineering and operating a large-scale platform.
  • Extensive experience with distributed cloud systems, specifically Amazon Web Services.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Understanding of relational database technologies and cloud database services such as AWS Aurora.
  • Experience with messaging systems and distributed asynchronous workloads.
  • Experience with nginx or similar technologies.
  • Experience with DataDog, Prometheus, or similar monitoring tools.
  • Positive, proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support others when needed.
  • Good written and spoken English with the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • Experience with enterprise solutions running at scale (bonus).
  • Familiarity with kanban and agile development processes (bonus).
  • Experience with Docker and containerisation (bonus).
  • Familiarity with software best practices such as refactoring, clean code, domain-driven design, and test-driven development (bonus).
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

  • Salary of £70,000 to £80,000.
