Description

  • Lead the architectural design of the robot’s next-generation compute solution from system architecture through component selection.
  • Define and validate compute requirements for motion control, perception, AI, and other robotics workloads.
  • Develop a scalable compute solution that can handle high-bandwidth data from multiple sensors.
  • Design for functional safety, including redundant systems, fail-safe mechanisms, and diagnostic features.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, and systems engineering teams to integrate the compute solution across the robot platform.
  • Conduct performance benchmarking and power analysis to improve efficiency and thermal management.
  • Design, simulate, implement, and test multi-layer high-speed PCBs for advanced System-on-Modules such as NVIDIA Orin.
  • Lead signal integrity and power integrity analysis, modeling, and validation.
  • Drive selection and qualification of critical compute components, including SoMs, memory, storage, interconnects, and peripheral interfaces.
  • Develop validation and test plans, build test fixtures, and execute testing for performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Own the full lifecycle of complex compute hardware systems from concept through production release and support.
  • Mentor and guide electrical engineering team members on complex hardware design and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded systems or robotics compute design.
  • Proven experience architecting and shipping high-performance compute solutions for robotics, autonomous systems, or similar applications.
  • Deep understanding of functional safety principles and standards such as IEC 61508, with experience in safety-critical design.
  • Expertise with compute platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, Intel, and other high-performance embedded systems.
  • Strong knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS), multi-core processing, and communication protocols such as Ethernet and CAN.
  • Experience with sensor bandwidth management and high-speed data transfer.
  • Knowledge of compute and processor power requirements, power trees, PMICs, and power sequencing.
  • Experience with humanoid robotics is a significant plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative engineering approach.
