Description

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, high-performance backend systems using Python and modern cloud-native patterns.
  • Apply spec-driven development practices to translate backlog requirements into detailed implementation specs for coding agents.
  • Coordinate teams of coding agents to deliver engineering requirements efficiently.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs for frontend, mobile, and third-party integrations.
  • Architect and deliver AI-powered backend solutions, including vector stores, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, and AI coding agent workflows.
  • Develop and maintain systems on Google Cloud Platform, including Vertex AI and Google Gen AI APIs.
  • Use Agent Development Kits, such as Google ADK, to design and implement intelligent agent-based systems.
  • Ensure systems are observable, reliable, and debuggable in production environments.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product, UX, and cross-functional teams to build maintainable solutions and manage delivery risks.
  • Mentor engineers and communicate technical concepts clearly to clients and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Python 3 for backend development.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Proven experience with spec-driven development.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding agents, such as Copilot or Claude Code.
  • Strong prompt engineering skills.
  • Experience working with LLMs, such as Gemini 3, Claude Opus, or GPT-4.x/5.x.
  • Experience implementing vector stores and RAG architectures.
  • Experience with Agent Development Kits, such as Google ADK.
  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with Vertex AI and Google Gen AI APIs.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong system design fundamentals, including queues, caching strategies, database schema design, and API design.
  • Experience designing AI agents, agent task planning, and reasoning patterns.
  • Agent observability and debugging experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal, and guide coding agents through tasks.
  • Experience working effectively with fully remote, distributed teams.
  • Experience in a consultancy, agency, or professional services environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced delivery environment.
  • Comfort understanding and integrating across the full stack; experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with BMAD Method or similar spec-driven development frameworks is a nice to have.
  • Familiarity with layered and distributed architectures is a nice to have.
  • Experience with Terraform is a nice to have.
  • Experience with additional backend languages is a nice to have.
  • Experience with gRPC or other communication patterns is a nice to have.
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms or complex integrations is a nice to have.
