Description

  • Lead commissioning activities for utility-scale battery storage projects from mechanical completion through energization and commercial operation.
  • Review project design, construction, and documentation to confirm compliance with contractual, code, local, and interconnection requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and oversee execution of project efficiency, capacity, interconnection, and utility energization tests.
  • Witness, record, and evaluate EPC and contractor testing, including mechanical completion, substantial completion, and remediation follow-up.
  • Coordinate recurring meetings with owners, EPCs, utilities, vendors, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support closeout of construction by confirming mechanical completion, substantial completion, and readiness for testing and energization.
  • Troubleshoot commissioning issues using remote access tools, SCADA systems, data historians, HMI, telemetry, and site login portals.
  • Respond quickly to RFIs and other issues that could delay testing or project schedule.
  • Travel to project sites and vendor factories to witness testing, troubleshoot issues, and support commissioning activities.
  • Maintain organized notes, detailed results, and clear communication with the owner and internal team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of commissioning experience with an engineering degree, or 3+ years of commissioning experience without a degree.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards for energy storage systems and inverters.
  • Strong understanding of plant controls and communication systems.
  • Experience in construction, commissioning, and analytical problem-solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Ability to delegate and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 10 days per month during the commissioning period.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, remote access tools, data historians, HMI, and telemetry is preferred or expected to be learned on the job.
