Description

  • Define active EO/IR system architectures through detailed trade studies and analyses.
  • Perform radiometric performance modeling and validate models against laboratory and real-world data.
  • Model atmospheric and environmental effects for land, sea, and air targets to predict system performance.
  • Develop, adapt, and derive physics-based sensor performance models and requirements.
  • Own the development of prototype sensor systems in a laboratory environment.
  • Support laboratory-based, ground-based, and flight testing, experiments, and demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, mission, and customer teams to integrate and deliver high-performance systems.
  • Communicate technical findings and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead small teams of engineers from concept ideation through system definition and development as needed.

Requirements

  • Model development and validation experience in one or more remote sensing-related domains.
  • Ability to decompose complex systems into functional components with clearly defined interfaces and requirements.
  • Experience in system design and development from initial concept through test and customer delivery.
  • Strong laboratory skills, including rapid prototyping and design of experiments.
  • Familiarity with opto-electrical test and measurement equipment.
  • Willingness to travel to test sites as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
  • Proficiency with analytical toolchains or languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience with industry-standard EO/IR modeling software such as MODTRAN, SPIRITS, or AFSIM is a plus.
  • Experience working with space sensors and systems is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of current and next-generation advanced sensing systems and platforms is preferred.
  • Active and passive sensing experience, such as LiDAR, EO/IR, or Radar, is preferred.
  • Experience with laser systems, including opto-mechanical scanning and beam steering techniques, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical control systems, including performance requirements and verification methodologies, is preferred.
  • Experience with LiDAR/Radar signal processing on real-time embedded platforms such as FPGA or MCU is preferred.
  • Space domain experience architecting sensors for space environments is preferred.
