Description

  • Partner with design teams to support design development and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback for batteries, power electronics, and electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Generate and review product data such as drawings, BOMs, layouts, test requirements, and part requirements to support supplier quality success.
  • Use electronics materials knowledge, DFM, and inspection/measurement techniques to support internal design work and manage technical risks.
  • Drive supplier quality development through design reviews, process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies.
  • Review supplier processes and capabilities to ensure electrical performance and sub-assembly requirements are met.
  • Partner with engineering, sourcing, quality, and program management teams to maintain predictable supply and manage exceptions, containments, and deviations.
  • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing critical characteristics, developing measurement systems, and leading qualification activities such as PPAP, FAIR, audits, and inspection development.
  • Own supplier risk reduction efforts to improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle through audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation.
  • Support root cause and corrective action, material review board activities, and containment actions for purchased goods.
  • Drive supplier corrective action and response processes and share lessons learned across the product team.
  • Audit supplier quality management systems and lead onsite supplier audits and reviews for quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 2+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering experience in sub-sea electronics, wet cable manufacturing, or battery manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in electronic top level assembly (TLA), PCBA manufacturing processes, test methods, high voltage systems, or power electronics is a plus.
  • Experience scaling supplier capabilities and quality from prototype and proof-of-concept through low-rate and high-rate production.
  • Experience flowing down source control requirements to suppliers.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 and ensuring suppliers have effective control plans and inspection processes.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610/620, IPC-J-STD-001, and MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with supplier performance evaluation, SOWs, quality clauses, intellectual property, and government regulations such as ITAR.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, quality improvement techniques, and GD&T.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive projects from start to finish.
  • Analytical skills with experience in data mining, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools such as MatLab, JMP, or MiniTab.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Master’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • General understanding of engineering concepts with experience applying them to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of low- and high-voltage power electronics and control systems for cable harness and connector selection.
  • Understanding of welding specifications such as AWS D1.2 is preferred.
  • Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces such as CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB, and PCIe.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD requirements such as MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-DTL-38999.
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and current probes.
  • PFMEA experience and experience developing source inspection plans and qualifying inspection process capabilities.
