Description

  • Develop mathematical and behavioral models for sensors, cameras, and actuators, including noise, latency, calibration, optics, dynamics, and thermal behavior.
  • Integrate component-level models into system-level simulations that capture interactions and overall system dynamics.
  • Develop and maintain Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation environments.
  • Design and execute experiments to collect real-world data for parameter identification, calibration, and model validation.
  • Perform statistical analysis to quantify model accuracy, uncertainty, and fidelity against empirical measurements.
  • Identify model discrepancies and iteratively refine models to improve predictive accuracy.
  • Conduct trade-off studies to optimize system architecture, component selection, and control strategies based on performance, cost, power, and reliability.
  • Predict system performance across operating conditions and environmental factors.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of individual parameters on system behavior.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, controls, software, and test engineers to define requirements and integrate models into development.
  • Communicate modeling results, limitations, and recommendations through presentations and documentation.
  • Select, evaluate, and implement modeling and simulation tools and techniques.
  • Develop custom scripts and tools to enhance modeling capability and automate workflows.
  • Stay current on modeling methodologies, simulation technologies, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in system modeling, simulation, and analysis, particularly for electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing models for at least two of the following: sensors, cameras, or actuators.
  • Experience modeling sensors such as IMUs, lidars, radars, ultrasonic sensors, or force/torque sensors, including noise, drift, latency, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience modeling cameras, including optics, image processing pipelines, distortion, noise, dynamic range, and rolling shutter effects.
  • Experience modeling actuators such as DC/BLDC motors, stepper motors, servo motors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gearing, or linkages.
  • Strong theoretical foundation in classical and modern control systems, dynamics, signal processing, and numerical methods.
