Description

  • Perform static and dynamic structural analyses of composite and metallic structures using first principles, hand calculations, spreadsheets, scripts, and finite element analysis.
  • Develop and own FEM creation and organization at the global and subsystem levels.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to drive designs based on analytical results.
  • Document analysis methods and results in technical reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct and support validation testing, including instrumentation requirements, load requirements, data collection, and model correlation.
  • Participate in flight testing by setting Do No Exceed values, monitoring loads, and dispositioning inspection findings.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Stay current with advancements in analysis techniques, materials technology, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • BS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures.
  • Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties.
  • Structural testing experience in static, buckling, and cyclic testing, including sensor selection, data acquisition, and data post-processing.
  • Proficiency with FEA software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or NASTRAN for linear and non-linear static and buckling analyses.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in Matlab or Python, or equivalent, for analytical modeling, data acquisition, and automation.
  • Highly motivated and self-starting, with the ability to work autonomously without supervision.
  • Highly organized and able to establish scope and requirements for ill-defined problems.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • 11+ years of experience in a structures, dynamics, or loads-related role with high ownership and accountability for hardware outcomes (preferred).
  • Experience as a subject matter expert with the ability to influence without authority and drive strategic decisions to critical program delivery (preferred).
  • MS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures (preferred).
  • Experience with high cycle fatigue and/or turbomachinery (preferred).
  • Ability to develop workflow automation tools (preferred).
