Description

  • Lead selection of CPUs, GPUs, and high-density NVMe storage based on performance, power efficiency, and radiation susceptibility.
  • Architect custom server sleds and high-speed backplanes for compact orbital compute systems.
  • Ensure signal integrity for PCIe Gen 5/6 and CXL links in a satellite bus form factor.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for major component vendors and collaborate on firmware and hardware modifications.
  • Design conduction-based cooling solutions, including phase change materials and advanced heat pipes, for heat dissipation in space.
  • Lead the space-adaptation of terrestrial hardware through shielding, structural reinforcement, and conductive cooling paths.
  • Oversee the hardware validation and qualification process from breadboarding through TVAC and vibration/shock testing.

Requirements

  • US citizenship is required.
  • 10+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience in server-class hardware, high-performance computing, or ruggedized electronics.
  • Strong existing relationships with major semiconductor and data center component vendors.
  • Expert knowledge of x86/ARM architectures, memory hierarchies, and high-speed interconnects such as PCIe, NVMe, and Ethernet.
  • Proficiency in high-speed PCB/PCBA design using Altium, Cadence, or Allegro for power-dense environments.
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing hardware that has flown and operated successfully in LEO or GEO environments is preferred.
  • Experience mitigating radiation effects such as SEE and TID through redundancy and shielding is preferred.
  • Experience integrating high-compute payloads with standard satellite buses and power systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with vacuum, thermal, and high-vibration testing standards such as MIL-STD or equivalent aerospace protocols is preferred.
