Description

  • Collaborate with the Mission Autonomy design partner to shape experiences from discovery through delivery and expand workflows as programs launch.
  • Spend time on-site with soldiers and subject matter experts to build user empathy, understand pain points, and test design hypotheses through workshops, field observations, and iterative prototyping.
  • Create product narratives, journey maps, user workflows, high-fidelity mockups, and documentation that guide development.
  • Turn ambiguous and technically complex problems into clear, polished interfaces that operators can use easily.
  • Partner with engineering and product management to define delivery timelines and prioritize critical functionality.
  • Identify opportunities to reuse and extend existing interfaces and design systems for operation at scale.
  • Contribute to the central design team through design critiques, peer mentoring, and sharing best practices.
  • Own the design vision for fleet management, mission planning, live execution, autonomous collaboration, and generative AI within the Lattice Mission Autonomy product.
  • Support cross-functional alignment and decision-making across engineering, product, and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product design, UX, or HCI.
  • Proven ability to execute high-craft, technically informed solutions.
  • Demonstrated autonomy to independently drive feature-level and system-level work.
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills for complex technical workflows where precision and clarity are critical.
  • Portfolio demonstrating elegant solutions and high craft quality.
  • Systems thinking mindset with the ability to map user journeys across multiple user types and operational contexts.
  • Strong prototyping skills to support decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate the reasoning behind design decisions and navigate complex stakeholder requirements across engineering, product, and business teams.
  • No prior defense experience is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Experience designing for technical operator-focused software in aviation, autonomous systems, robotics, industrial control systems, logistics, or similar environments (preferred).
  • Familiarity with planning, execution, monitoring, or debrief workflows for autonomous or distributed systems (preferred).
  • Track record of delivering high-quality work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity (preferred).
  • Experience helping mature a product from early development to operational readiness (preferred).
  • Experience working within established design systems while contributing domain-specific extensions (preferred).
  • Experience leading user research sessions, including customer discovery, usability testing, and feedback synthesis (preferred).
  • Facilitation skills for workshops, cross-functional alignment, and strategic decision-making (preferred).
  • Familiarity with constrained or high-stakes, safety-critical environments (preferred).
