Description

  • Own the tactical execution of product development work and ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs.
  • Provide strategic oversight and tactical management for engineering teams supporting rocket motor development and production scale-up.
  • Set goals, objectives, and performance expectations, and conduct regular reviews with constructive feedback.
  • Manage team resources and priorities across multiple product development programs.
  • Recruit, hire, coach, mentor, and retain engineering talent.
  • Align product and technical roadmaps with business objectives.
  • Establish and lead a Design Engineering Center of Excellence with documented best practices and processes.
  • Evaluate and advocate for new tools, technologies, and capabilities to improve design and development work.
  • Track KPIs to measure team effectiveness, responsiveness, and process improvements.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for technical roadblocks, resource conflicts, and interdisciplinary challenges.
  • Own the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables including design reports, test plans, material specifications, and technical recommendations.
  • Ensure design, analysis, test, and material knowledge is documented and institutionalized to shorten future design cycles.
  • Communicate portfolio strategy, milestones, risks, and accomplishments to executive leadership.
  • Build strong partnerships with Program/Technical Program Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leaders to support end-to-end delivery.
  • Proactively communicate execution status, resource constraints, and priorities to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience in engineering leadership and management roles.
  • Experience developing and scaling complex hardware products, specifically rocket motors or similar high-volume, high-precision systems.
  • Strong background in engineering development processes, quality assurance, configuration management, and V&V strategies.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing engineering teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with an innovative and adaptable approach to complex problem-solving.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with solid rocket motors, preferred.
