Description

  • Develop low-level firmware and software for microcontrollers, including reusable device drivers and system-level features.
  • Own complex firmware features for embedded systems supporting end-to-end mission systems.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries.
  • Help select microcontrollers and peripherals and review schematics with the electrical engineering team.
  • Collaborate across teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently at different stages.
  • Own the architecture and deployment of mission-specific solutions for on-orbit spacecraft operations and mission management.
  • Support interfaces to multi-modal payload platforms, bus platforms, and proliferated satellite constellations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of firmware or embedded software development experience focused on embedded systems.
  • Strong C coding ability for embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors.
  • Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
  • Debugging experience with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Solid understanding of coding best practices, board bring-up, and debugging.
  • Experience with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with ARM microcontroller cores.
  • Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex systems and solve technical problems with little oversight.
  • Clear communication and organizational skills, including documentation and training materials.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced expertise with C/C++ (preferred).
  • Experience with C, C++, Rust, or Python (preferred).
  • Experience with multiple microcontroller cores such as ARM, AVR, MSP430, or PIC (preferred).
  • Experience with satellite mission autonomy, including fault isolation and recovery systems (preferred).
  • Interest in critical software for the space domain (preferred).
