Description

  • Own the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems and drive resolution of field issues across software, firmware, networking, and hardware.
  • Develop, extend, and maintain modular production services that run on edge-compute devices in austere environments.
  • Support field operators and non-technical users in diagnosing and resolving issues on deployed hardware.
  • Serve as a technical representative in integrations with external teams and customers, both remotely and on-site.
  • Maintain end-to-end understanding of systems spanning hardware, firmware, networking, and software.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and platform engineers to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  • Optimize how services interact and degrade gracefully when components fail.
  • Travel for field testing and customer integrations as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience with meaningful production ownership.
  • Strong Python and C++ skills, with the ability to work effectively in either language.
  • 5+ years working in Linux-based environments, including bare-metal hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system boundaries, including networking, services, and hardware interaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical problems to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
  • Experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Linux systems service management and observability practices (preferred).
  • React/JSX experience (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Nix or NixOS (preferred).
  • Experience supporting fielded or deployed systems, not just development environments (preferred).
